Ten RANDOM Items I Ordered from Amazon for my Classroom

It is the end of April, I have 20 school days left, then my 6th year of teaching is over. As I have been preparing my Amazon Wish List for next school year (it will be my first full year in 2nd grade) I thought I would share some random items I have purchased from Amazon for my classroom over the last few years. Details & Links below

Magnetic Dry Eraser Holder - I have three of these in my classroom. I have one of each white board and it makes it really easy to organize my dry erase markers and regular markers. It also provides easy access for when I am teaching.

Blue Light Blocking Glasses - between the forcent lights, computer and smart board, these are an essential to have for all teachers. They help relax my eyes and help prevent headaches.

ROOTRO Touch Bedside Table Lamp - I keep my forcent lights off in my classroom as much as possible and use different types of lamps. I recently purchased this lamp this school year and I Plan on getting more. It is super bright for how small it is and I have thought about getting my daughter one for her room. It doesn’t get hot either.

Stars Magnetic Jar,Reward Kids Star Jars, Magnetic Reward Star Jar for Classroom Board - this is a GREAT classroom management system. In my classroom, we have rewards we are working towards, if the whole class is following the rules they get a star in the jar.

Paper Mate Felt Tip Pens, Flair Marker Pens, Medium Point, Assorted, 24 Count - I am obsessed with these pens. I have bought at least three packs of these since I began teaching.

Black Wood Better Than Paper Bulletin Board Roll - this is the best bulletin board paper, I plan on ordering more in different colors. It will last you many school years. It cuts easy with scissors. It stays in place and does not rip. It is almost May and mine still looks brand new.

Essential Oil Diffuser - every teacher needs one of these in their classroom. I am a strong believer in the benefits of essential oils and their ability to foster a calming environment. Not to mention it makes the classroom smell amazing. I always get compliments on how great my room smells.

Wireless Presenter, Hyperlink Volume Control Presentation Clicker - this clicker is great for clicking through slides while teaching in your classroom. It allows you to move freely throughout the room. I love how it can clip onto your lanyard and it has a laser pointer.

Classroom Timers for Teachers Kids Large Magnetic Digital Timer 2 Pack - I use these timers every day, multiple times a day. This is a great classroom management tool. It allows students to see how much time they have to work on an assignment and it keeps us on task.

Storex Small Cubby Bin - I have bought and rebought these bins more times that I can count. They come in a variety of colors. My advise is to get them in a neutral color because then they will match whatever theme or have or may have in the future. These storage bis are great for your classroom library, learning materials, and station work.

Fade Into You - L.A. Ferro Book Review

L. A. Ferro stole all my attention with her book Fade Into You. This is my second book I have read by this author and I was enthralled by the adventure she took her main character Mackenzie on. This book is full of suspense. There were a lot of characters who interacted with each other in many different ways. Each of them with their own skeletons, it was almost difficult to keep track. I thought I was going to have to make a character map. Over all, the way Ferro tied it all together was fascinating. The main characters Mackenzie and Connor did not choose each other, though really they did at the very beginning of the book, they didn’t have a choice in how their relationship began. Forced into an arranged marriage, to protect people who meant the world to them, the characters were determined to have an expiration date on their marriage. The walls they put up, slowly (very slowly) began to crumble as they fell in love. Both of them had secrets and needed answers. This book shows you how...

Salt by L.A. Ferro Book Review

BOOK REVIEW: Salt by L.A. Ferro will captivate all of your time. This was my first book I have read by this author and she did not disappoint. Salt is a fiction book that revolves around an age gapped romance. The main female character, Cameron Salt, went to live with her dad’s best friend Everett Callahan, when she was 17 years old, after the death of her parents. Her dad trusted his best friend to look out for her. Cameron always loved Everett. When she turned 22, Everett started looking at her differently, he struggled with his attraction for her and trying to do the right thing by his best friend. I absolutely loved this book. The characters and storyline felt so real to me. I couldn’t put the book down. I really connected with the character Cameron, because I also lost a parent at a young age. There were a lot of resonating moments for me, especially when she talks about moving on, allowing yourself to live life and be happy. I was inspired by how she kept her faith, stayed posi...

My First Time Doing Art Therapy

My First Time Doing Art Therapy Anytime Art Therapy was suggested to me, I automatically dismissed the idea of it because I am not artistic at all. I can barely draw stick figures. I tried it for the first time this week, I signed up for a five week inner child workshop using art therapy and my first class was amazing. The class was really relaxing and I felt so good when I left. During the first session we used watercolors to draw a childhood memory. We began the class with “calm, safe place guided meditation”. Lynette turned off the lights, told us to get comfortable and she guided us through the meditation. After meditation, we filled out a paper about a childhood memory, then we were encouraged to use the water colors to paint that memory. When I meditated I visualized myself outside, laying in the sun, at Tappan Lake. I tied my safe place to when I was a child and we use to go there and now how I go there with my family I had a lot of resonating moments during the class. Whe...
