Binding 13 by Chloe Walsh was recommended to me over the summer through my Facebook book group. I saw it had really good reviews. I didn’t look into it for a while because I was indulging in other book series. I wasn’t too interested at first, then one day while at Books A Million I saw it on the table. The description on the back of the book was intriguing so I bought it. It sat on my bookshelf for a month or two before I finally picked it up. When I first started it, I had a little bit of a difficult time getting into it. After a few chapters, I was really into it. I ended up buying the second book, Keeping 13 and so far so good.
The story line of this book is about Johnny Kavanagh, a popular rugby player who is destined to go to the academy and play professionally. He has everything going for him, a great group of friends, good parents and a lifestyle most would dream about. Mr. Kavanagh has a secret though, he has been hiding a painful injury that could halt the magnificent trajectory of his career. This means he has no time for distractions or a girlfriend. His world spins out of orbit when Shannon Lynch transfers to Tommen after the Christmas Holiday. Shannon Lynch has been bullied all her life. She is shy and would rather hide herself away to make it through school. After a mishap on her first day at her new school, Kavanagh takes her under his wing. They slowly start to fall in love with her. Shannon also has a secret. She is terribly abused by her father at home. Some parts of her home life can be a bit triggering. Johny starts to put the pieces together at the end of the book, which leads into book 2.
At first I would have given this book 3-4 stars, but it's a 5 star book that has me already adding the series to my Christmas list.
L. A. Ferro stole all my attention with her book Fade Into You. This is my second book I have read by this author and I was enthralled by the adventure she took her main character Mackenzie on. This book is full of suspense. There were a lot of characters who interacted with each other in many different ways. Each of them with their own skeletons, it was almost difficult to keep track. I thought I was going to have to make a character map. Over all, the way Ferro tied it all together was fascinating. The main characters Mackenzie and Connor did not choose each other, though really they did at the very beginning of the book, they didn’t have a choice in how their relationship began. Forced into an arranged marriage, to protect people who meant the world to them, the characters were determined to have an expiration date on their marriage. The walls they put up, slowly (very slowly) began to crumble as they fell in love. Both of them had secrets and needed answers. This book shows you how...
